Z-Wave Thing missing from database - possible to manually add channels or manually add item to local database?

Hello!

I’m a novice to Openhab (2 in particular) and google hasn’t really helped me.

I have an item [or two, need to double check] which doesn’t exist in the database. I imagine creating/submitting an item would take some time to get approval?

So, is it possible to manually add channels to unknown Things or alternatively, would it be possible to write and utilize the XML manually?

Usually takes Chris no more than a day or two.

No. You need to have the zwave device added to the database and then upgrade to a snapshot build so you get the latest database changes.
