@chris were you ever able to use a CC2531 to reset a Hue bulb? I don’t feel like spending $25 and waiting a few days just to get things back working if I can avoid the cost.

No - I’ve never done this. I always use a Hue remote.

I’ve successfully reset Hue lights before using special software called hue Thief.
It doesn’t work with CC2531 as far as I know, BUT(!) it works with Silabs Ember NCP. So that’s where our new products come handy, as they are fully Silabs Ember NCP compatible.
We have created 2 new products, compatible with OpenHAB ZigBee bindings:
