Zipato AB02Z_PSE02 Indoor Siren notification_send doesn't work

I’ve got this zipato siren and I’m attempting to use the notification_send channel in order to get it to make a doorbell sound.

The xml file suggests that 0 or 1 should be accepted:

<channel id="notification_send" typeId="notification_send">
    <label>Enable Siren</label>
    <properties>
        <property name="binding:*:DecimalType">COMMAND_CLASS_ALARM;event0=SIREN:0;event1=SIREN:1</property>
    </properties>
</channel>

However when I send 0 or 1, I get the following in the log:

[nding.zwave.handler.ZWaveThingHandler] - NODE 5: Command received zwave:device:aeotec:node5:notification_send --> 0 [DecimalType]
[nternal.converter.ZWaveAlarmConverter] - NODE 5: No event found with name 'event0'
[nding.zwave.handler.ZWaveThingHandler] - NODE 5: No messages returned from converter

Can anyone see what is wrong? I was going to start a github issue but I don’t feel confident enough in describing this as a bug yet!

I do not examine the XML file to check for the type of item I need to associate with the channel. Usually you do that via the channel tab of the thing in the administration GUI. The type of item needed is shown there in paranthesis:

Auswahl_001

I don’t have your siren, but other devices with alarm function. The channels always need an item of type “Switch”. Hence ON and OFF are the states they will show/need to be sent for controlling. But check what is needed in your case.

Thanks, yes there is a switch channel which can I use to turn on the siren which makes a loud alarm sound, but I think that in order to trigger a doorbell sound I must set that notification_send channel to 1 before turning on the switch. These are the channels I get:

I found this thread where they discussed adding the Number channel to the zwave database to allow doorbell sounds. It just seems that the Number channel argument is returning null and so the ZWaveAlarmConverter is saying “no event found”

Thanks for the clarification :+1:
Looking at the thread you linked to it seems they abandoned the topic back then. The Number channel remained in the database, though. Best way forward would be to pick up the topic where it was left sitting two years ago by contacting Chris for collaboration, I think.

Hi @chris, are you able to help me? The first post of this thread should be clear enough to have a glance at. It seems you were helping some folks a couple of years ago and that thread was abandoned before anyone said whether they had had success using the newly added channel that I’m attempting to use now.

Hi Matt did you have any luck? I bought the same siren, and the same situation you’re in.

No sorry, I did not make any progress with it! Let me know if you make any headway

I don’t know about notification_send (that looks on/off to me), but it should be possible to link a parameter(s) (it looks like 5 and 6 have the sound choices) to a channel to change the sound. Does that sound like something that would work for you?

Thanks @Matt_Cholawo I will look into it too :slight_smile:

I will let you know if I make any progress. Unlike you though, mine won’t even make the alarm sound - nothing at all. My local XML is as follows.

Hail Mary idea if someone want to try.
Don’t have the device, haven’t quite figured out how the notification_send works in the binding, but based on reading through the discussions back to 2016, the device manual and the apparently working Philio siren, developed a test XML. Siren=1, Doorbell=2. Also (if that works) added channels for parameters to change the sound for different devices.
pse02_0_0.xml (6.8 KB)

For testing the file needs to overwrite the existing one in the binding using this procedure

What might be helpful is a debug log of a test (working or not) to see how this gets handled in the binding.

Note on XML’s; the XML in the userdata/zwave folder is not the same as the XML in the binding. The local XML is a repository to speed up restarts and is frequently overwritten (like if the node is “healed”). To change anything, the binding XML must be modified and the node rescanned (delete from UI, Scan) No need to exclude from network.

Good luck

Thanks for this advice and XML! I’ll give this a go and follow the procedure to learn and report back :slight_smile:
