Zwave Errors: No Converter set

I just uploaded to OH#465 and now am getting “no converter set” errors on startup:

You’ve got a lot of errors there - there seems to be some bad things happening on your network…

Anyway, what is the device that this relates to? Did you create this configuration through the UI (HABmin or PaperUI)?

I just did a clean install about a week ago because I seemed to be getting lots of errors. Things pretty much haven’t worked reliably for 2-3 months. The devices were all configured through the HABmin interface, except for adding groups through the Paper UI.

Node 4 is a Cooper RF9542 Dimmer Accessory Switch
Node 10 is a Linear WS15Z-1 switch
Node 11 is a Cooper RF9540-N dimmer

Let me know what else I can do to test and try to figure out why I’m having so many issues. Thanks as always for the help.

@chris,

Here is a full startup under debug - https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B77VHtwPft8eUVFxTzN6ZEljbTQ

I tried running it through your log viewer bug it’s pretty much greek to me.

Thanks for the help.

I thought your log was going to test the bounds of my viewer as it’s 33MB, but it worked ;).

Anyway… I haven’t looked at the log in massive detail (it’s too long) but I don’t really see too much wrong. Yes, there’s a few timeouts, but it looks generally ok I think. Regarding the no converter errors - there aren’t any in this log. I think that these might just be errors on initialisation - if the device isn’t fully initialised, I think this can happen if you send a command.

These errors might need to be descoped to debug level. I’d keep an eye on things - if you have any specific issues, then let me know, but it otherwise looks like it should be working ok?

Thanks Chris. This is twice where I’ve seen random errors but once I do a debug restart they go away. I’ll go look at the new docs but do you know if anything has changed in using a startup service on a Raspberry pi vs. using the start.sh script that might be giving me issues?

I’m not aware that there should be any differences, but I’m not 100% sure as I’ve not looked at how it’s configured…

Thanks. I’ll dig into that one to see if that might be part of my issue.

I’m still having issues with rules not recognizing physical status changes from my dimmer switches (the next thread down on Rules) if you have a few minutes to look at those log entries. (Solution found) Rules are not triggered by “Changed to ON”

Maybe @ThomDietrich might be able to comment on this having just put together a custom Pi image ;).

Thanks, I’ll take a look at his posts to see if I can get any ideas.

Hey guys, sadly I can not contribute much to this discussion.
I am not a zwave user and regarding the service vs. start.sh question: I did not run into any real remarkable differences.
In fact, the service doesn’t do much more than executing start.sh, have a look.
Is there reason to believe, your problem is related to execution as a service? did you try a manual setup?
If so, could your problems originate in the openhab users context, file permissions or device access permissions maybe?

@ThomDietrich Thanks for adding the $.02. Unfortunately the issues are too intermittent yet to figure out what is causing them. I’ll keep playing and double check permissions.
