Zwave stick on new rpi (openhabian)

I would like to install oh3 on a second rpi (with openhabian).

Is it possible to use my aeon gen5 z-wave stick usb with the new rpi and
put it back into my old rpi (oh2), if something goes wrong? without losing
my ~60 zwave devices?

greetings fonz

Yes and no, inclusion happens on the controller, so you can move it to another RPi and they’ll go with it. However, there are two things to be aware of:

  1. The new OH will still have to add them as things, so you may still have to wake up any battery-powered devices repeatedly to get them to be fully identified. If you copy over the XML files from your userdata/zwave folder BEFORE discovering your zwave devices, you can speed up the process.
  2. If you have any securely included devices, make sure to also copy the Network Security Key from your old installation to the new one. To find it, go to the ZWave Serial Controller thing, and look for it under the Advanced Settings. Again, make sure to enter this before you discover your devices.

Full discovery happens locally though.
