I like having control over my tools, and more importantly I like having access to reliable tools: OpenHAB provides both of those requirements, by also having a big community of skilled and passionate tinkerers: I think of myself as one of them, as I am learning how to automate my routine one rule after another.

My setup

I run OpenHAB and some ancillary services as Linux Container through Podman’s Quadlet integration with SystemD units; the underlying OS is Fedora IoT, an “immutable” RHEL-based distribution.
The system is configured through Ansible via CLI.
