I have been working with computers for about 30 years. I started out as a programmer/analyst and moved to hardware, as I prefer it.
I installed X10 devices in my home about 15 years ago. I was looking at upgrading, so I purchased an Iris (by Lowes) setup. The problem with that is it forced me to go to the cloud. I prefer to keep things in-house. So I started looking into other options and came across OpenHAB.
I’m slowly adding devices (after I get the last purchased device working) and am learning quite a bit. But, finding information is hard to come by much of the time. Very frustrating. I would also like to get my X10 devices working with OpenHAB, but that’s another story…
I am currently a Voice Services technician for a state agency. As such I handle Nortel (decommissioned), ShoreTel (now Mitel), analog, iPhones, iPads, Android, AirWatch, etc.
