"500 server error" from paperui when wakeup is 0

Hello all, I’ve found the following has affected a few of my z-wave devices, for some reason their wakeup interval has been set to 0 in the OpenHab config, not by me but that’s not the issue. I can’t fix this using PaperUI which throws a 500 Server Error when I try to set it to something sensible. Instead I need to open up Habmin and edit it there. Due to this I can’t change z-wave config using paperui for those nodes until I change the wakeup interval using habmin to non-zero.

This is using the snapshot from about 2 days ago.

… and yes I know “wakeup_node” isn’t the wakeup time, but this exception is thrown when I try to set the wakeup time to something sensible if it’s somehow become set as “0” in OpenHab’s view of the node’s config.

It is recommended to use Habmin for ALL Zwave admin

Yes that’s what I did, I used habmin, but thought it’s worth reporting a problem with paperui, or has development on paperui stalled?

Can you provide a debug log so we can see what is being sent. My guess is the UI is sending a NULL which is invalid, and the binding doesn’t check for this since it should be an integer.

Hello Chris, I’ve attached a log, despite the “xml” filetype it’s a gzipped text file, I don’t yet know the accepted way to get around the forum limits on this. I have a much larger log file if there’s missing data but this one contains two different devices suffering from this issue. Both have now been fixed using Habmin so I saved this log off at the time I saw the issue in case someone wanted it.

Search for “set wakeup_node to null” for the first one, node 10, the second one is node 12, node 12 hit the problem a few times while I figured out what was going on.

The UI, or maybe something elsewhere in the system before the data is passed to the binding, is setting the data to null. The binding doesn’t expect this, and it’s throwing the exception.

I will add a check to stop this, but it still won’t work - my guess is that something in ESH is probably changing the 0 into null. Are you able to confirm that PaperUI is sending 0 and not null? (You should be able to see this with the debugger in your browser).

Hello Chris, I’m afraid not as I fixed it all using Habmin and to be honest my openhab system is falling apart right now so I’m fighting fires trying to get the basics to work again so this has vanished off my list of priorities. I’m finding that having to swap between habmin and paperui is not helping much as they seem to differ quite a bit on things that they should match up on, e.g. on the device on my desk right now, a sensor I have 6 of, 5 working fine but one not playing ball, paperui says it has three association groups while habmin says it has none, and setting association groups in habmin shows a debug message saying unknown association group… It’s all getting a bit messy so I won’t be pursuing this issue any further until I can get my house to work again.
