I can confirm this, really like the Xiaomi stuff. Currently using Xiaomi gateway and also an IKEA-gateway for bulbs. Are considering a non propriety gateway like CC2531. And like you I have given up on Z-wave.
I am using two Xiaomi motion sensors which both controls lightning. One controls an IKEA-bulb and one controls a Tellstick-switch and I find both working good.
