Another reason why the cloud isn't your friend for Home Automation

Having a 2 day outage would not be acceptable in my house.

Required connected services are only part of the problem…

Cloud connected devices leave us at the mercy of the provider, when they decide to shutter services (as many have done) our investment in the technology evaporates.

Sony killing the connected DASH and SONOS killing their hardware based controller are just two recent examples where my hard dollars were rendered useless after the manufacturer has taken my money.

Just as well this sort of thing isn’t available in my country. Also I’d be paranoid about samsung shutting it down, like their old android app stores, or TV services.

This is the main reason I prefer my ‘local’ cloud :slight_smile:
