I’ve recently started looking at integrating a few Imou cameras into my openHAB setup and was wondering how others have approached it.
There seem to be several possible ways to connect them, including:
- ONVIF
- RTSP streams
- MQTT (if available)
- Custom scripts or API-based solutions
What I’d like to achieve is fairly straightforward:
- View live camera streams in Main UI
- Use motion detection events in rules
- Receive notifications when motion is detected
- Keep everything running locally as much as possible
- Have a setup that remains stable over time
For those already using Imou cameras with openHAB
1、Which integration method are you using?
2、Are motion events being handled by the camera or detected within openHAB?
3、Have you managed to get motion alarms exposed as Items?
4、Any limitations or issues you’ve encountered?
5、If you have multiple cameras, how well does the setup scale?
I’d be interested to hear about real-world setups, especially any examples of Things, Channels, or rules you’re using.
