App not working, but browser works

Got a strange problem that literally happened over night.

OpenHab V1 shows: network not available

OpenHab shows: no connection

Browser working flawless

All pointing to 192.168.1.49:8080

On wife’s iOS OpenHab V1 it’s working. And if I restart OH over console I can connect again also with my phone, but behavior returns after 2 days. What’s going on here?

What phones ?
What iOS versions, any difference?
Please post a screenshot of your apps complete Settings

iPhone X on 16.7 works

iPhone 15 on 26.3 not working

iPhone 14 on 26.3 works

Difference I can see is „Allways send credentials“ which i have disabled.
Also I have „ Ignore SSL …“ enabled.
Any reason you are using legacy app on iOS 26.x ?

Always used it but new version also same problem like I wrote

Same here. My wife just moved away from Android to an iPhone 17 with iOS 26.3 and neither V1 nor V2 of the iOS OpenHAB app are able to connect to my OpenHAB server.

Connection via webbrowser works.

Would be happy to understand how to get it working

@ohb1138 Does your openHAB server show up in the Bonjour browser of the v2 app, and what is the result of tapping the Connection Check icon, both close to the URL field label?

No.

Also no connection.

But I can access my OpenHAB instance on the iPhone via webbrowser.
Historically I am using not the standard port 8080 but a different port. But this is no issue on the Android app and hence I do not consider this a problem on iOS.

Anything more that I can test to help finding the issue?

Cheers
Justus

Could it then be that you, or your spouse, possibly denied access to the local network when iOS Privacy & Security asked you about this in a dialog the very first time the openHAB app was opened on said iPhone?

You can check and toggle this permission under Setting > Privacy & Security > Local Network.

Thank you, @Hans_Lree :folded_hands:

I did not find OpenHAB in Settings > Privacy & Security, hence it seems not to have the persmissions set. Then I went to the app settings and found it deactive. I have swiped the slider for “Local Network” to green and now it works.

Great to hear you have the openHAB app running correctly now @ohb1138

@andy_k Could it be a similar issue for the problem in your original post?

After the update IOS 26.5 the app can’t make a connection anymore. The app worked all along until the update and no settings were changed.

Does anyone experience the same issue ?

@corkie

Did you try all the options above, and which app version are you running?

• Trying the Discovery Browser and Connection Test button
• Viewing the openHAB settings and Privacy & Security > Local Network to make sure that openHAB has access to the Local Network

Also have you tried going into the openHAB app Setting and simply tap SAVE to exit the settings?

The final solution I tried was uninstall the app on the iPhone, cleared possible history- and websitedata from cache. Then installed the app again, choose the settings as used to be, and the result was a working app again. I don’t have any clue why the update to 26.5 interferred with the app and configuration.
The app is working fine is my conclusion.
Thank you for responding.
