Astro Binding moon age meaning

Hello,

I’m using the Astro binding in the hope of getting a value between 0 and 1 where 0 is new moon, 0.5 is full moon and 0.99 is about to round around to the next new moon.

However, looking at the various age channels, I have a hard time figuring out which one would be appropriate.
The documentation gives this:

  • thing moon
    • group phase
      • channel:
        • age (Number:Time)
        • ageDegree (Number:Angle)
        • agePercent, illumination (Number:Dimensionless)

But there is no clear indication as to what each means with respect to the moon phase it represents.
For instance, what is the relationship between agePercent and illumination?

Is there a more detailed explanation somewhere?

As far as I remember, age is the number of days since new moon.
This can be used with state icons.
