Astro trigger after update 5.0 => 5.1.1 not working any more

Hi there,

I just yesterday updated from 5.0 t 5.11 and suddenly my astro related trigger are not working any more

A rule looks like that (there are others) similar to this

rule "Outdoor - switch all on at dusk"
when
    Channel "astro:sun:local:civilDusk#event" triggered START
then
logInfo("cancasas", "Astro/sun event civilDusk, dusk sunset starts => All outdoor lights ON")
[...]

So beside the lights are not going on after 5.1.1 upgrade I also don’t see any log entry. So I can ensure the rule is not called.

Locale, position and all this is set and btw, running on Raspberry 64bit.

The event log however shows

2026-02-07 17:13:22.001 [INFO ] [openhab.event.ChannelTriggeredEvent ] - astro:sun:local:civilDusk#event triggered START
2026-02-07 17:42:24.002 [INFO ] [openhab.event.ChannelTriggeredEvent ] - astro:sun:local:civilDusk#event triggered END

It looks so basic to me, I cannot find it  but I’m also quite clueless what could go wrong.

Thanks,
Soeren

There was a fix committed today.

Which one?

Not sure the PR linked here is a solution for the OP. He is using event channels, not the Azimuth and the log shows that events are triggered but the rule is not fired. Could be different issue, no ?

Also, that PR fixed a regression in 5.2, not 5.1.

I have done some fixes to Astro events triggering, which should be a part of 5.1.2:

That said, with this little information, I can’t tell what the issue here is, so I can’t say whether my fixes will help.

A first step might be to try to snapshot binding and see if that works, if it doesn’t, we need DEBUG logging of org.openhab.core.automation and perhaps also org.openhab.binding.astro to try to see what happens.

… 5.1.2 fixes the missing triggers from the astro binding :+1:
