Beginner with chainsaw on both hands

Hi there… it’s winter here ( denmark) and it brings plenty of dark hours with nothing else to do than trying to learn new skills. As stated in the headline i can chop down literally every tree out there in a safe and secure way- but my IT skills are some what limited. I’m not a total noob, i have been able to chip an xbox , i use automagic4android for many things on my phone and i have with success messed with some putty and ssh…

This brings me to my request. can somebody give me a bullet true walktrue in how and where to place codes, icons and all the other lovely things shown in here… BTW love the forum- the setup, and the people’s open approach to questions…

i’m on a Synology 214 DSM6.1 running openHAB 2.2.0.010…
when i search the net it looks like i’m on some kind of “old internet” meaning that synology apparently have taken a new approach to how to log in and how to gain root acces…

A link or description to a step by step 2017 guide, preferably with a openHAB reference, to where and how to gain acces to the right folders on my Syno
would be very appreciated- and give me something nice to do in the dark hours.
