What should I have read (and apparently failed to do so) that would have told me to make those changes?

Thanks. I think this UART chip goes a lot higher, but something I noticed earlier is that the Ember chip inside this stick is the EM3581 which doesn’t support USB natively. So, it probably has a fixed UART speed programmed into the NCP code. I tend to use the EM3588 here which has USB internal to the Ember and therefore the baud rate doesn’t matter. I’ll add an option to change the rate on the Ember. ( and nice find ).

There are other forum posts, but I don’t see anything officially documented. The zigbee docs speak of the different coordinators, but not of specific hardware. @chris, is there a spot for this kind of info?

the device needs to be close to the controller in order to do a secure include and I’m not sure my deadbolts are close enough

In testing the dev binding, I was able to do secure inclusions of a BE469 from about 10ft.
