Can you put a serial binding to another device in the network?

The signal from my Enocean USB 300 gateway is insufficient. It is currently plugged into my Synology nas. Can I possibly move it to another network device with a USB port? A router with a USB port?
I had read that somewhere that it would be possible.
How does that work?
