Commands entered in iOS App result in "interceptor.Fault: Could not send Message."

iOS App Version 2.4.47 (but was happening on earlier versions too)

Whenever I enter a command on the iOS app, I see this in the openhab log file. I have tried it with two different bindings (myq and mqtt) and it happens every time. I have found that after a while openHAB will become flaky (Astro binding triggers don’t fire for example), and I have to restart openHAB.

The commands are successful. Here is a recent example:

When I was first troubleshooting this and wasn’t sure what the problem was, someone suggested it was HTTP related. I’m seeing a similar error that appears to be related to the iCloud binding. I have a similar issue, error messages when I start openhab app on iOS or when I click something within the app. I found out that this error only happens, when my VPN is started on my iPad. Shutting down the VPN and restart Openhab app does not end up in any failures.
Do you also have VPN running?

Thanks for the suggestion. I frequently use my VPN (which is is WireGuard running on the same Pi that is running OpenHAB. I’m pretty sure that the VPN was not connected when I received, the errors, but I had not, as you suggested, restarted the iOS OpenHAB app. I will experiment with that and report back.

I verified that the VPN was off and it didn’t change anything. Still getting this error anytime I trigger a command in the iOS app.

Same issue here since months, IOS App on my Iphone causes this log entries. I am not using VPN.

This is also happening to me exactly as described here. In fact, I’ve investigated long error messages in the console when using the iOS app for years but have never found a solution.

As has been noted in this and your previous thread, it tends to happen when closing the app or when the phone may be switching between networks. I’m not sure where the solution lies, but I would suggest that the iOS app needs some checks in order to handle unstable connections more gracefully.

Yes, it seems to be the WLAN, unfortunately it is very unstable especially in my office although i invested into 2 APs and Mesh. I have a Android tablet mounted in the living room next to one of the APs and that never writes an error (connected to local…) like my iphone does.

I’m not seeing this error any more. I’m currently running openHAB 3.4 SNAPSHOT 3033. I can’t remember exactly when it went away, but I believe it was the same time as the upgrade that made the Home screen available again.

Just to confirm, this error is common at startup, and is indeed related to interrupted HTTP requests. The workaround is to raise the log level to ERROR in log4j2.xml as described here

Is there a solution to this logging spam without updating to milestone version?

Assuming there are no dependency issues with between the versions, you could manually load the .jar file with the new binding in the addons folder and it should work. (I was hoping someone would respond who could point you to that file. I always have to hunt for them).
