I don’t think actions with arguments work with plain UI rules. For not you’ll have to use an inline script to call the action from code. Blockly is a great option.
I suppose we could just go back to having only text file based configs with no UI at all. Why bother trying to make OH more user friendly when any slight inconveniences caused by a not yet completely implemented feature (an undocumented and not advertised feature one might add) causes users to rage quit.
I mean, what good is:
auto discovery of compatible add-ons
auto creation of Things
auto generation of the overview tabs
ability to create Items from a Thing all in one go
very simple rules don’t require any coding
Blockly for users who don’t already know how to code more complicated rules
rule templates
marketplace
openHABian
What good are all these in the face of not being able to log something from a simple UI rule action yet. It’s obvious the developers don’t care about usability at all and have done nothing to improve it in the decade OH has been around.
[For those who can’t tell, the above is dripping with sarcasm and my intent is to put the original complaint in context.]
