Do I need a Phillips Hue Hub to control Phillips Hue Lamps?

Hi!
I can control Xiaomi Mi Smart Led Lamps directly through OH, using the Yeelight binding and without the need of any hub or any other additional hardware.

Is it possible to do the same with Phillips Hue Lamps: to control them without the Phillips Hue Hub? Will there be any limitations?

Phillips can be used with a zigbee dongle that is compatible with many bindings or methods.

Zigbee, deconz, zigbee2mqtt.

Research these to get compatible hardware.

I use the deconz binding with conbee 2 usb. Other have good opinions of other devices and binding combinations.
