Do you still check camera feeds manually?

Maybe it’s just me, but I realized I almost never open my camera dashboard anymore.

Most of the useful stuff has been automated into notifications, alerts, or rules.

The cameras are still important, I just don’t actively watch them.

Anyone else the same?

Or do you still regularly check live views?

Yes. I don’t like operating the garage door opener wtihout eyes on the door so I use the camera feed before triggering the door (built into the openHAB UI widgets). Outside of that, I don’t have too many cameras and I don’t have any automations built around them and yet I don’t really check them either. I mainly review events after the fact and even then it’s mainly to see if we caught the neighborhood fox on camera again.

Slightly off topic, but if the HomeKit binding has a security camera or doorbell Thing in it, then those things can expose an image channel that can be used to display in OH UIs the last snapshot taken by that device. It obviously depends on the manufacturer and model, but in some of them pressing the door bell takes a snapshot which then becomes visible via an image item in your UI..
