Dynamic audio group?

Hi all, I am playing with the idea of looking into dynamic audio groups using Chromecast with openhab. And was wondering if anyone had a solution already?

By a trigger, adopt the speaker in current room to a already playing Chromecast setup.

So I can enable/disable speakers for each room by the press of a button.

My first thought was to create all possible audio groups in Google home and make some checks on which group currently operating and just change that, but that will make all speakers reconnect, not the most optimal solution.

Using the Google home dashboard I can add speakers to a existing group without breaking the music already playing.

Was hoping I could do the same with openhab.

This isn’t possible. OH can only interact with existing groups, not effect changes to them.

I think the only easy way to do this would be to have one speaker group that you always use, then change the volumes on the various speakers from OH.

Too bad that the api do not support this.

Not a bad idea with the volume - I will look into that

It will be problematic for all rooms as speakers though Chromecast will power up external equipment
