EcoLink TILT-ZWAVE 5 not in the zwave database

Hi,

I am trying to add an Ecolink tilt garage door sensor model number TILT-ZWAVE5 but it appears that this device is a newer version of the other 2 in the database but this on specifically is not, and as such OpenHAB doesn’t recognize it.

I see this in the openhab.log:

2021-12-19 13:28:58.393 [WARN ] [wave.discovery.ZWaveDiscoveryService] - NODE 11: Device discovery could not resolve to a thingType! 014A:0005:04AA::1.0
2021-12-19 13:28:58.554 [INFO ] [ommandclass.ZWaveVersionCommandClass] - NODE 11: Command Class COMMAND_CLASS_BASIC has version 0!

What should I do to get this device included.

Thanks,
Joe

Hi again. I have been poking around and trying to understand how to add a new device to the Z-wave database (I’m new to all of this). I did find the XML file generated by OpenHAB.

If anyone can help me get this added it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

One other item that may be of use is the user manual.

tiltzwave5.pdf (367.3 KB)

New entry:
OpenSmartHouse Z-Wave Device Database - waiting for approval.

After approval:
Install latest Z-Wave Binding snapshot from openHAB-ZWave [Jenkins].

Approved and exported - it should be in the binding in the next day or so.

Thank you both. Much appreciated.

I am not very good at software. I was using openHAB 3.3.0; and successfully used two Ecolink 2.5 tilt sensors. One of the sensors stopped working and Ecolink sent me a replacement Tilt-Zwave5 sensor. I can only get two channels (alarm and battery). Based on these comments I just upgraded to 3.4.0-SNAPSHOT. I still cannot get the sensor to work. Any help (please with step by step guide) will be greatly appreciated.

From the XML above (and the DB entry) the Tilt-zwave5 will only have 2 channels, unlike the 2.5. But since this thread has been quiet for 6 months, I have to assume that one channel is working for the people above. Have you created a NEW item from the channel and tested ? It might be that you had the old item setup as open/close and this channel is ON/OFF.

Bob

Bob,
Thanks for the follow-up. Yes, I did add it as a new thing. I get two channels, as you mentioned. However neither channel gives me any data. The battery does not show a level and the burglar alarm is also blank. I did some more digging, and this item is not listed in the zwave database (Things Summary - ZWave | openHAB) as a supported item. I am taking the easy way out, I ordered another Tilt-zwave2.5 to replace the one that stopped working. This should fix my problem.
Thank you for your help.

Getting the 2 channels means the device is supported. Not getting the data means the device is not fully configured or there are communication issues between the device and the controller. In either case this could happen with your new device, so make sure there five lines on the UI page and/or an XML file of the node in the userdata/zwave folder.
Five Lines of configured node

Good luck
