What are you trying to control from, BasicUI or other? You may need to use F5 to refresh the display (on BasicUI). Also may need to toggle each device for the correct state to appear (this can be fixed later).
Also, have you created the generic mqtt Thing in PaperUI and linked a channel to the item? Still have not seen your Items config.
That was it. When I created a new broker thing I renamed it to differentiate them. And then neglected to update the channel IDs within the items. Updated them, and now everything is talking.
