You’ve probably already solved this problem, but I wanted to put in a recommendation for ESPEasy for the software. I programmed my first few esp chips with the Arduino esp library, and found that ESPEasy was much easier to work with for control via mqtt. Another bonus is that I don’t have to open up a project every time I want to make io changes.
