Just putting it out here.
I’m planning to buy an Eva-power plug-in battery.
One of the things I always look at, is for support in OpenHAB.
Because I can’t find anything yet, I hope someone will take this up to create a new integration fot this.
I’m unfortunatly a very moderate programmer and also don’t have any java knowledge.
I hope to get my set somewhere this month and happy to test the integration offcource!

I would buy a zigbee device. That way it is 99% sure it would work in openHab.
I don’t buy WiFi devices anymore. I use zigbee2mqtt as it is fairly well supported.
It would mean you would need to buy a zigbee co-ordinator.
Just a suggestion.
In general I agree, but there is not always a choice.
Since I think that every supplier for a Plug-in battery will use an app, there is already WiFi.
I don’t expect they even bother to add Zigbee into the device, just for a home automation system.
I’m not sure about the Eva-Power battery, but many other plug-in battery/Power Station manufacturers do include Bluetooth for their own app functionality instead of WiFi, which would also be an option for integration.
There is already an integration build for HA through the API.
I know OH is driven by volunteers, so things can take more time, but man what are they quick!
An API shouldn’t be that hard, I guess. But as said, I’m not a very skilled programmer and certainly not in Java to build a binding.
