I don’t know how to do that with .items files (and I’m particularly interested in finding out).

Just found this post, which apperantly answer this exact question:

I’m afraid it’s not possible. While metadata config values may be objects with nested properties, the grammar used to parse .items files doesn’t support it. For those cases you would have to use the UI. (the metadata is decoupled from the item itself so you can have the item in a file and the metadata for a certain namespace in the JSONDB as long as it’s not conflicting). While it seems it’s not possible through .items files, it says that I can define the metadata through the UI and it should work. So this is my next “to do”.

That widget defines two properties, title and item

I noticed that the item property get populated correctly when set through the .items file. I wonder if it would be possible to define the widget to take to label value of the item as a title.
That way it might work because nothing needs to be defined in the .items except the uid of the widget, which apparently work.
I’d glad to hear your thoughts on the idea and how could be defined.
