Fakro ZWS12 – new 2019 model – new id 0085:0002:0100

Hello,

Fakro keeps releasing old devices with different IDs, this time the ZWS12 built in 2019 with 0085:0002:0100.

As far as I see, it matches with https://www.cd-jackson.com/index.php/zwave/zwave-device-database/zwave-device-list/devicesummary/777, but lacks the rain sensor and flood alarm, but otherwise returns the same properties, compare https://gist.github.com/sttts/ac698f395e5643ee7c20e14b80ff3f57.

I tend to create a new device instead of adding it to the zws12n with the rain sensor. Any other opinions?

Thanks,
Stefan

Yes, it the hardware is different we need a new device created.
As the device type and device id are not used yet with this manufacturer, you are lucky and don’t have to set any firmware limits to the other Fakro devices.

Work-in-progress: https://www.cd-jackson.com/index.php/zwave/zwave-device-database/zwave-device-list/devicesummary/1081

I have requested a matching manual from Fakro (had some contact before already). Will attach if I get one :crossed_fingers:

What a chaos they have with their device revisions and documentation. The manual I had sent with the device was even more wrong (it even lists yet another id that I cannot find anywhere else).

Looks good.
I have a suggestion.Parameters 12 & 13 could use Options to make selections easier.

Thanks. Could options work for parameter 7?

Wow its a mess a Fakro. I just got an even newer ZWS12 with id 0002:0010.
I have one ZWS12 manufactured 05 2019 with id 0085:0002:0100 like ours and one manufactured 07 2019 with id 0002:0010.

The newer one is allready partially in the database as ZWO01. I say partially because it is set up as a dimmer, not blindscontrol and there is no configuration.
I do not belive Fakro has a product named ZWO01 and this id should be added to the ZWS12 2019 entry instead.

Agreed, deleted.

Done.

Btw, I got a reply from Fakro about docs for the 0002:0100 model. They sent me docs, but of course not the detailed ones with Z-Wave info.

Before that I had a long ping-pong communication between me, the support guy and his engineering, asking for calibration support (as documented in most of the PDFs flowing around). It sounds very much like they have a number of variants of the ZWS12 for different markets, with different firmwares and capabilities, all under the same model name. How awful for customers not knowing what they will get.
The 0002:0100 intentionally has no calibration whatsoever “because this is to complicated for customers”. So the device opens with full force until the end of the chain (and eventually breaks windows).

My own theory is more that this limits the “misuse” of their device for non-Fakro windows which need different distances to open. This is bad practice. I won’t buy anything from them again.

Best regards,
Stefan

All Z-Wave manufacturers need different variants for the different regions they sell in due to the differing frequencies.

Sure, different frequencies are fine (and usually visible in the product marketing), but different functionality is not.

sihui,

Think I’m having the same issue as Stefan. I have purchased two of these roof windows at the same time and one logs in with no problem but the other is not recognised. I think it is just the model number that differs with the number 0085:0002:0005:1.1. Think therefore the id 0002:0005 needs to be added to the database.

Is this possible? Don’t fancy going to Fakro to check all the model number issues as it appears they are a mess as Stefan says.

Cheers for any help you can provide.

Does this manual and other information look like it is your unit? If so, we can just add it to this database entry.
