Is there some way of marking the forum topics as “read” without clicking on each one individually?
Very simple. if you look at the top of the forum you will find the option “new” between “latest” and “unread”. Choose new and you will get all new topics and you should be able to mark all as read by unsing the “dismiss” link at the bottom of the page.

Or go either to the news or the unread page and click on the lower right hand side “Dismiss new” or “Dismiss topics”.
