  • Issue of the topic: So I have been using Openhabian now for almost a year on a full home automation system. I make regular Image backups of the SD card so but the challenge is that I need to remove the card , make a img then write the img to a new card and so on. I know I can make a backup of the Opehab Set up files but how do I make a backup of node red , it is installed in the root folder so you dont have access to it unless you enable root , witch I prefer not to do. So other than making a Image from time to time is there an alternative?

Sure. OpenHABian includes the Amanda backup system. Read up on and install it from the openhabian-config menu. You can use it to fully automate backing up the SD card as well as directories (to contain either OH or non-OH data). Get an external card writer so you don’t have to remove the card every time you want to restore your backup.
