GPSTracker binding, owntracks (html) and ot-recorder

Hi folks,
I am using owntracks app on my phone to publish location information to my openhab instance.
I used to do that through MQTT but now I learned that MQTT is deprecated. So I moved to publishing through HMTL.

Unfortunately owntracks-recorder (ot-recorder) does not record locations any more.
Is there any way to record locations published through owntracks via html or to gateway HTTP to MQTT? Documentation is a little slim on that part.

I am using the GPSTracker binding.
