I’m not disappointed, just confused. Really, if it was worth your time to change all the things you already changed, why isn’t it worth your time to fix this? If it’s not worth your time to fix this last thing, was it worth your time to fix all the other stuff? I never really expected you to spend any time on this at all in the first place but only going part way leaves me confused.

And in case it’s not clear, I do not and never did think any of this was a waste of time. Even stopping short on this last item doesn’t cause everything up to now be a waste. Again, I’m just confused and concerned that you think it was a waste of time. It wasn’t.

Ok fine, for me it seemed a little bit like disappointment from your side… I gave up on this rule, because it was to time-consuming to test and discuss something that is already working and the improvement is so minor and not part of the use case at all. And after failing and failing I decided to spend my time for more important things. In my eyes it is not important to optimize code, more like “nice to have” but not necesary if the code is not problematic - and overall my code had not a single problem. I think you shouldn’t act like the Code-Police just because you help people on the forums and my code wasn’t bad or problematic at all, just simple and not improved, even if someone would have copied some pieces of my code this wouldn’t lead to “you spending an outsized amount of time for fixing”, there was nothing to fix!

Maybe I’ll have a look at your last posted code when I’m wanting to spend more time on this, but IMO I spent way more time on debugging this rule than it would improve anything…

I think you shouldn’t act like the Code-Police just because you help people on the forums and my code wasn’t bad or problematic at all, just simple and not improved, even if someone would have copied some pieces of my code this wouldn’t lead to you spending an outsized amount of time for fixing, there was nothing to fix!

Then I invite you to take over for me in helping people fix problem caused by copying code with problems that were not a problem where they copied it from but is a problem where they copied it to because it was brittle. I’d love to give that up. I’d have a lot more time to spend on other and more fun things. I didn’t use to have to spend that much time on it.

But your point is clear. I will no longer “police” your code and I’ll refer anyone who copies from it and has problems to you.

All “policing” of code has been removed from this thread and your posts and replies hidden from me lest I forget in the future and “police” something from you again.

I’ll hand in my badge and gun and the end of my shift.

In my opinion my code wasn’t brittle or harmful at all. If you decide to spend your time doing all this for the community, you can decide if it is not what you expect from spending your time here. No front, but what I’m saying is consider doing less if this is too much for you to feel good with it. For me personally this effort you’re spending on the forums would be way too much. But it’s an individual decision how to spend the time one has.

Hopefully you don’t do more than you can handle - I wish you all the best for the future…
