Has anyone experience with Vimar (by-me)?

Hi Mario,

are you still active here?
I am using the “new” Vimar Gateway and want to connnect it to my openhab3.
Can you give me some basic information?
I already know that I have to use the port 443 and that Vimar is using the hexadecimal system (in case of using the by-me-system).
Which system are you using? by-me or the KNX-system?

for your information:
Within the Vimar’s “View App”, I can see the “KNX”-messages:
e.g. B4 10AB 0C38 80 00 80 A5
byte: 12 3456 7890 12 34 56 78

Byte
1 → I don’t know.
2 → I don’t know.
3 bis 6: → address of the sending item (here: my gateway)
→ I expect normally “Area, Line, Member” in case of KNX (each with 2 bytes
7 bis 10: → target address (begin with “0C”
→ KNX-format should be equal to th sending address:
Area, Line, Member (KNX: each 2byte)
11 +12: → I don’t know.
13 + 14: → I assume that this will Vermutung: gehört zu 15 und 16 oder zu 11+12 ?
15 + 16: → from an italian homepage: 81 = switch on (= up), 80 = switch off (= down)
→ or do I need only the byte “16”
17+18: → I don’t know. I can see these bytes in some messages.
19: → I don’t know. I can see these bytes in some messages.
20: → last byte: italian homepage: check sum (similar to KNX)

How about your method and process to use Vimar by openhab?

Hello Jens,

sorry I was on vacation - so now I´m back and yes I´m still active in this community and also working a lot with Openhab 3 these days.

I´m using Vimar By Me System - I bought it in 2012. So access it from openhab I bought a standard KNX IP gateway for round about 130 €.

I guess this will also work for your newer version of the Vimar bus.

thanks a lot for your information. I have the new Vimar-Gateway. Therefore, I can see the messages on the bus system directly.
And you are right. Your solution should also wok in my system.
Unfortunately, I’ve already ordered an USB-interface. We will see … :wink:

But nevertheless, my next task is to improve the (non-existing) communication between my heatpump (Viessmann) and the SMA-photovoltaic-system (read out via Modbus-binding).
