OK, that is what I was saying about having those two items, then using a rule to combine them. I figure I’ll also need a rule to split the value that I get from the real zwave item into values I can use for the two separate sound and volume items. I’ll take some time to work on it and stop asking questions for a while

I don’t understand what you mean?
The values are easily provided from the manual - you just combine them as hex and convert to decimal.
