How are you integrating Imou cameras with openHAB?

Hi everyone,

We’ve been experimenting with different ways of integrating Imou cameras into openHAB, and it’s been interesting to see that there isn’t just one approach that works for everyone.

Some users rely on the IPCamera Binding with RTSP streams.

Others prefer ONVIF for discovery and control.

We’ve also seen users combine multiple approaches depending on their setup and automation needs.

I’m curious to hear how the community is using Imou cameras today.

A few questions I’d love to discuss:

  • Which integration method are you currently using (IPCamera Binding, ONVIF, RTSP, or something else)?
  • What has been the most reliable setup for long-term use?
  • Are there any camera features you feel are still missing in openHAB?
  • For users managing several cameras, how are you organizing Things, Items, and Sitemaps (or Main UI pages)?
  • Have you found any useful rules or automations built around your cameras?

We’ve noticed that everyone seems to have slightly different priorities. Some people mainly want a stable live stream, while others are more interested in motion events, PTZ control, or using camera events as triggers for automation.

We’re interested in learning how people are using Imou devices in real-world openHAB deployments and what improvements would make integration even better.

If you’re willing to share your camera model, your integration method, or any tips you’ve learned along the way, we’d really appreciate it.

Looking forward to hearing about your experiences!

Please stop asking the same over and over…

Hello, this is the official operations representative from the Imou Open Platform. We would like to gather feedback on what issues you’ve encountered during the OpenHAB integration process, as well as what new features or APIs/components you’d like us to officially provide. We will prioritize development based on the level of interest from the community, so that we can better support you in developing applications for your devices.

Same strange posts on HA:

I’m sorry if this caused any confusion.

That certainly wasn’t my intention. If you have any questions, integration issues, or feature requests related to Imou devices, I’d be more than happy to listen and do my best to help.

Please feel free to share your thoughts or experiences anytime.

These posts seem more from a marketing boot trying to get indexed by search engines with reference to their brand.
