Wouldn’t it be better if the unit was part of the value? Then the unit would be displayed automatically in charts, for example.

Is that your actual question?

If you are on 3.4 release version, and your Item has a Unit of Measurement defined, then I understand that OH will provide you with default units. But if that unit isn’t what you want then you would change it using the label.
