How to keep a manual installation updated

Hi there,
I used to run openhabian on a Rpi but switched to a debian based machine.

The Rpi installation could be updated witch openhabian-config.
Is there a similarly easy way to keep the manual installation updated?

At the moment I am running 4.0.2 but some of my manually installed addons require 4.1.2 to work.

Thank you very much for your help.

While RPis have a number of advantages which is why they’re recommended over other hardware, you can deploy openHABian on Debian, too.

Hi,
Have you reviewed this section of the docs yet? It does outline how to upgrade a Linux install.

What exactly do you mean by “manual install”? Is it a truly manual install (meaning you download the zip file and extracted that to some folder) or do you mean you just used apt instead of using openhabian-config (which it’s worth mentioning uses apt to install openHAB).

If the latter OH will update with a standard apt update and apt upgrade. If the former see openHAB on Linux | openHAB (a couple sections further down in the docs from those linked to by @justaoldman.
