Hue Bridge Pro support status

Dear all,

As my Hue Bridge 2 is within the 90% range of almost all resources, running stable but laggy for quite some time, perfectly having all real transient outages when my wife turns on the light , I am deeply motivated upgrading to the new Hue Bridge Pro.

Rademacher promised to roll out an update to make the Homepilot system compatible end of February, so from there on there’s only OpenHAB’s support missing in my setup.

From GitHub as well as from the forum, I do not get a clear picture of what’s the current state.

There is no official statement, I find reports of nothing works, others got something running by installing the bridge’s certificate, and the Git issues I found were all closed with comments like “temporary” or “workaround”, while none seems to be open.

Therefore I would like to ask if someone knows what the current state is.

That being said, my particular interest at this time is to continue using the same features the Bridge 2 already has. The new stuff like MotionAware etc. may come later, for now it’s about doing the same as before on a way more potent hardware.

The Hue Bridge Pro is fully supported. Certainly in OH 5.2 builds, and probably also in OH 5.1.x

Yesterday a friend of mine showed me, that he exchanged his Hue Bridge with a Hue Bridge Pro. He is running OpenHAB 5.1.

According to him, the process of getting the API key changed, but he managed to do so.

So I know that it works for sure, but not exactly how. It might as well be that getting the key over the karaf console still works and he just only used another way of doing so.

I’ll ask him for details once we meet next time.

As far as I recall, the pairing process of pressing the button while starting the binding should work as well for the Pro bridge as it did for the v2 Bridge.
