The inflection point for me was in the MQTT binding transition. With the rewrite David chose to not add documentation for direct file based configuration. You had to hunt to find it in the source instead of in the documentation link. Why? Because no one should be using file based configuration.

But he explicitly states that he wanted to use file based configuration how can you argue that it’s against his user experience? It worked consistently for all his bindings except for the mqtt binding because it was not documented there.
That’s a valid argument and its sad to see a person switch from openHAB because of the lack of documentation.

Valid except that the MQTT binding has been out what, three years now and David is no longer contributing to OH. So there should be nothing stopping someone from submitting such docs if there is a demand for it.

It won’t be a small job but I see no reason why it couldn’t be added.
