Insignia (BestBuy) power outlet bindings

I’m new here and mostly came looking for something better than the frustrating app that comes with the BestBuy Insignia outlets.

Is there any way for me to control/automate these switches without using the app, Google Assistant or Alexa?

Thanks!

Hi BJ and welcome to the OpenHAB community!
I have two of these power outlets. I have yet to find a way to get them to work with OpenHAB and in fact currently don’t use either of them. I do know the technology that these outlets use to communicate is wifi and I can usually figure out their IP address by looking at my wifi router. I’ve searched (a little) on the internet and couldn’t find any info on how they communicate but suspect it is a simple http type protocol and with a little hacking could probably be made to work with simple PUT and GET requests to the correct ip address which OpenHAB is certainly capable of doing
I found it a lot easier to just purchase some TP-Link brand outlets instead which work great with OpenHAB

I am new to the OpenHab community as well, due to Insignia dropping support for their devices, and I was wondering if you guys were ever able to make progress on this. I just don’t know what communication the outlets require.

Hi Alex and welcome to the OpenHAB community! Please read my post above, I believe these outlets use simple http request on wifi connection to communicate but have abandoned them
