Items in Things/Channel greyed out, items cannot be edited ort added

    • Hardware: Raspi5
    • OS:
    • Java Runtime Environment: which java platform is used and what version
    • openHAB version: 4.3.2
  • Issue of the topic:

Sometimes the items representation in the config view Things/Channel/ suddenly appear greyd out without any obvious reasen.
The Item apperar in config Items Menue normal.
Reboot does not help. Logging does not shows any events.

I have faced this problem several times and the error disappears.
For my usage of OH this is a serious malfunction of the basic OH config.

Do you see any errors or anything else relevant in the browser console logs?

Dear Rich,

I do not get suspicious log entries, no error or warnings in the web logtail.
After some time without any configueration work the correct displayed items apeard again.
The runtime itself was normal functioning, maybe sometimes with some response delays.

So somehow there is a sealf-healing.

I have seen this behaviour several times.
I do no special critical configs, I just use the graphical Design and I only do some Code edits for MQTT Things.

I’m addition to the openhab logs you see through Frontail or the Log Viewer I’m also talking the web console you can find in your browser under developer tools. That’s the logging for what’s running in the browser. Are there warnings or errors there?

I may be completely off the point, but are you using Firefox ?
I have the same issue with Firefox, but never had it with Chrome.

I am using chrome.
With Firefox I can see the Things screen normal!

Really strange the opposite behaviour yours to mine!?

So it seems a browser issue.

Very interesting.
I’m wondering if this can be a session management issue. But why should we be the only ones having it is a mystery.

Next time it happens, I will try to clear browser cookies and other site data. If you can do the same, we will compare result.

For me, some network request never ends. It could explains why GUI elements stays grey, the browser waits for the response.
