I got the notice that my water meter will be replaced to a digital version Kamstrup FlowIQ® 2200 in March. Currently I have an old conventional water meter and I use a solution from smartgateways.nl to get realtime water usage data, I also build some rules to detect leak (in 2022 I lost over 1000EUR when my heat pump stop valve failed and the water leaked continuously for over a week).
Now with the digital version Kamstrup FlowIQ® 2200, does anybody know a good way to integrate to OpenHAB? I couldn’t find any discussion before I post, hopefully somebody has succeeded in doing so before.
Linked page (10th) consist of ordering details, which you can confirm with device or its manufacturing label. Looking there its almost certain that device will be wmbus compatible. Both standard communication codes, KWM2210-xx-y-13-… and KWM2210-xx-y-59-… indicate wmbus. Difference is mode. C1/T1 is favorable as meter is then broadcasting its reading, I think S1 (stationary) mode is similar, but some manufacturers use a wake up signal to trigger meter wake up, which limits integration capabilities.
For sure you need to reach out to Kamstrup to obtain encryption key for that device. AFAIR they have a dedicated online service where you can register and fetch these after your account is activated.
The Kamstrup provided tooling (dongle and software) is quite pricey, so if you can integrate it yourself you save ton of money.
I work with supplier of nbiot sensors since last year, and to be fair, it is not the worst thing which might have happened to you. What you receive in such case is manufacturer specific UDP packet, which you still need to parse, but you are free of all radio hassle.
Reach out to Kamstrup or distributor where you purchased the meter and ask them if you can point out receiver of meter data. It is usually anything within internet. You will need a server with public IP hosted somewhere, to launch UDP receiver. I wouldn’t be surprised if Kamstrup would have its own cloud for that as well.
