MQTT migration assistance required from 1.x to 2.x

Hi all,
I am on OH 2.5.11

I have done some searching and reading on this forum of some VERY long and complex threads, that TBH made my eyes glaze over more than normal.
I have decided still to move forward and I am looking to continue running my current MQTT 1.x binding AND stand up my MQTT 2.x binding while I migrate one thing at a time, to try and minimise the disruption to the family.

Reading the online docs and wanting to continue to use mosquito as my broker, I installed the MQTT addon, and then went to paper UI things and added a MQTT Broker. On this screen I only seemed to need to add the IP address of mosquito broker, everything else looked fine with the defaults.

The thing says its ‘initializing’ a look at the logs shows an exception has been thrown, and it seems I have done something wrong straight out of the gate.
Can someone point out my error?

I have not rolled back at this stage as I think the MQTT 1.x stuff is all working still.

.

Just to double check: are you running both bindings in the same instance of openHAB? From the docs:

This binding is not supposed to run in parallel to the old mqtt1-binding. Please uninstall the old binding before installing this binding.

before the release 2.5.11 they worked together just fine, after 2.5.11
as it says hafniumzinc

Thanks guys, after reading some threads from some time back and a comment that Rich made that he was migration devices one at a time and was only 60% through, I figured it was supported. But as pointed out apparently not.
so no easy migration route anymore as it has been taken away.

It seems the design is to have no easy migration its ‘all or nothing’.
I will uninstall the 2.x binding and rethink what I want to do next.

I have been looking at OH3 over the break and come to the conclusion this is also a forklift upgrade for me.

Paul
