Multiple openhab homes and offices with different ip series

Hi,

I have been using openhab extensively.

At my home my openhab server is 192.168.1.201.

Series 192.168.1.xyz is fixed as the router does not allow changing ip address change.

At office I am using 192.168.4.201 for openhab server as I tend to test openhab servers for my home automation hardware clients. This allows me to test usual series 192.168.0.xyz 192.168.1.xyx 192.168.29.xyz using WISP.

The problem is that I have to keep changing the app setting in order to access these settings in order to access local openhab over wifi.

What could be done to avoid this configuration whenever I am switching from one place to other?

I even tried adding multiple servers to openhab settings. It did not help.

You do not mention which phone client you are using.

Sorry for missing it. I am using android openhab app 3.21.1

And you’ve create a separate server configuration for each in the Android app under Settings → Connections?

Hi

There is a setting in Android App that selects a server based on Wifi Name, that may be helpfull in some way.

I run 4 OH servers on multiple locations and this wifi name feature works great for choosing a server and initiating local connection.

Meanwhile i also use Tailscale on all servers and OH cloud at some servers.

I endded up with 8 server configs in the OH App, 4 of them are native and 4 are VPN adressed, it is functional but i guess OH app could benefit from adding a VPN entry, then i would only have 4 server profiles.

Anyways i hope i shared an usefull idea at least.

Yes I did. Still it did not connect automatically. Even if I try to make current server as primary server.

Looked good on first look. But then I realised that I have multiple wifi names at one location. The phone gets connected to any one of them depending on in which room I am. However, openhab advanced setting allows only one wifi name per openhab server setting.

I think you can set multiple wifi names by entering them in new lines each, thats the info bouble writen for.

And did you try enabling the switch on that popup wifi window, to restrict local acces to wifi names?

I did try this also. It will be great to know if someone else also has come across real life scenario of having to explicitely open the setting from moving from one openhab server to other openhab server.

Yea i have to do it all the time when accesing remotely iver VPN, it is slightly clumsy i agree.

But local connection by wifi name works 100% for me.

So what exactly isnt working for you
