myopenHAB Service Update tonight, Sunday 8 PM EST / Monday 1 AM CET

My myopenhab was re-connecting every few minutes (from 2:00 AM til 3:39 AM in CENTRAL EUROPE, GERMANY)

But since 3:39 AM it is running continuously!

Yeah, thats myopenhab…
But can you access you´re openhab through the cloud?
Right now, as I´m writing this. I cant access my openhab server through the cloud (ie myopenhab). But myopenhab does respond just fine and I can log in as well. From there, no respons.

same here, although it shows “Online”, I can’t connect and get a timeout when trying to access the dashboard.

@Kim_Andersen

YES, I am able to open PaperUI, Habmin, ClassicUI, and also seeing Notifications.

I can switch items. But don’t know if correspondig LightBulbs were switched on/off, because I’m not at home…

z-wave network viewer is also running:

I also can access through HabDroid (=OpenHAB Android APP)

Dashboard is running:

Same issue here, “504 Gateway Time-out” when trying to access dashboard via myopenhab. It does open myopenhab.org and let me log in though. I can’t access items via RESTful API and Tasker too. Mobile application also not working outside of home network.

Best regards,
Davor

I’m looking into this now, I restarted services around 2 am CET time, and it can take a while for traffic to reconnect. By 3 CET it looked normal, and my testing showed web and proxy connections were working. But right now, the service is very slow, and is probably not useable for many. i’m looking into why that is now. All servers look normal, so it’s not completely obvious what the issue is.

I had the same issues reported above (Alexa and Android app not reaching my instance).
I restarted my local openhab instance and now everything works again.

From my log:

2019-03-18 03:23:36.300 [INFO ] [io.openhabcloud.internal.CloudClient] - Disconnected from the openHAB Cloud service (UUID = xxxx, base URL = http://localhost:8080)

Things look to be OK ATM, if you are having issues , restarting the cloud binding might help.

Thanks Dan… Things looking good from here now.

here:

Alexa up and running
push notifications working

Google home: Devices discovery still not discovering anything

do not mistake: i am grateful none the less

If Alexa is working, i’m not sure why Google is not, both use the same REST API. Can you confirm this is not a config issue?

Thanks

Hi Dan…
Are you aware of whats changed with the update?

For some reason Google is responding with “…2 lamps” even though there is only 1 lamp/light tagged.
I´m pretty sure this wasnt the case yesterday, (before your update) So I wonder if this is a bug in Google Assistant somehow ??

Are you aware of whats changed with the update?

Google uses the REST api of your openHAB instance, myopenHAB just passes that through and does not touch nor store anything for it (other then auth keys). The release was mainly around Android push notifications and some minor Web UI fixes, nothing has changed in the proxy code that Google is using.

Thats weird…
When ever I ask Google to turn on a light, “she” respond with, “okay, turning on two lamps”. Even though there is only one lamp tagged. It seems to happen to all my tagged items. I have checked and doubble checked my items, and my Google Home settings. There is only one lamp…

I know for sure this wasn´t the case yesterday, cause I have been converting all my IHC items to use the latest IHC binding, and made serious tests each time I made changed to one of the tagged items.

Could be Google fooling around as well though… It´s not that stable right now. Just pretty annoying, and specially since there is no way to investigate this issue.

I did not develop the Google integration, so i don’t know how its syncs and stores devices. Does the google home app on your phone show multiple devices? Does the detail view on the device in the app show anything useful? If you want to see what Google is seeing in terms of tags you can hit https://home.myopenhab.org/rest/items?tags=Lighting to see all devices that have the “Lighting” tag.

Working for me again after restarting the cloud connector binding. Response time is also fine :slightly_smiling_face: thanks!

Nope, only one device for each item…

How the heck is it possible for “her” to answer with two “lamps/light”.
Just checked, it doesnt happen for any other devices beside my IHC devices… Hmprf!!!

So i have 2 OH setups
@home: OH2.2 with Z-Way binding. Devices were discovered a long time ago, all configured through textual *.items files. Big G. discovered devices a long time ago and they kept working throughout the update.
I’ve tried exposing a dummy and getting it discovered yesterday evening- not happening, or at least no simply saying “google sync my devices” and i’m not daring to cancel it all atm to rediscover from 0.

@myt parents’: OH2.4, z-wave binding +few shellies through mosquitto. All (except for dummy items) configured via paperui and tagged through rest api.
Up until sunday both alexa and G were working.
Now i seem to have issues with the discovery of new items with both assistants.
Whereas i didn’t cancel what i had in alexa and once OHcloud started working again, she did as well, i did cancel what i used to have in Ghome, and now can’t get it back up.

i’m investigating further also checking relevant threads

I started having these same issues a few weeks ago. I’m pretty sure it was associated with a Google Assistant update. What I’ve been able to determine is that there is some confusion due to my multiple user Google Assistant setup. Depending on which “Home” a device was added to, that user gets the proper response. The other user who is part of the house “sees double”. I think that when Google Assistant synchronizes devices, it sees the device “shared” by the primary user (the one that initially sync’ed the device) and then also sees the device it reads in from having the openHAB service defined. I have tried different permutations and tried always adding/sync’ing devices using the same “primary” user, but I can’t seem to consistently replicate the behavior. I tried not adding the openHAB service to one of my user accounts to see if the Google Assistant sharing via the Home definition would suffice… it does not. For now we just put up with, e.g., “turn off the lamp” resulting in “turning off the den lamp” or “turning off two lights” depending on which one of us asks.

Not too “smart”. Arrgh!

Mike

I only got one account connected to just one single GH mini. I havn´t had much problems, beside when there has been some problems with the openhab cloud. I can live with a few problems once in a while, when I know the reason, and know people are working on it. But regarding the GA connection, it´s very little we know and can see. Thats frustrating, in my opinion. I´m convinced (now) that my experience explained above is totally on the Google side.
