New flashed OH3 keeps rebooting during initial installation

Hello,

I flashed openHABian v1.6.3 to my Raspberry Pi 3b and powered up.
Via Putty I can login as openhabian to follow the installation proces. But it looks like it keeps rebooting.
Is this normal? The Raspberry is also extremely slow reacting.

As the log teils, your Internet connection is not stable.

Hey Opus,
Indeed, I have also seen that message, but I didn’t change anything in my setup except the replacement of the new flashed SD-card. And my OpenHAB2.5 was running on that machine for more than 2 years.
Maybe it’s unstable because the Pi is too busy with installing something?

Probably I found the problem.

What I previously did : flashing the image to some SD-card I found lying around.
Now I took a fresh out of the package new SD-card, and the installation is very fast now.
However still some ‘FAILED’ markings. Don’t know if this is a problem.

When the installation takes a long time (more than 1h), multiple restarts and re-try to install, when RPi is getting slow and reaction time when ssh… check your SD-card for writing/reading speed.

I have the same issue and use a brand new San Disk Extreme with 32 GB (read 160MB/s & Write 60 MB/s).
Shouldn’t this be ok?

Hello All,
I get the same behavior with 3 different SD card : 2 x brand new SANDISK Ultra-SD and 1 x Sony Pro. They have been flashed with the “OpenHabian stable” image, so there is no opportunity to control step by step the auto-update process…
I cannot believe it comes from the SD card…The Sony one was running fine with another automation software.
Too bad, i stay with Domoticz for the moment.

Did you check wether the Hotspot was activated during the setup. I did observe that yesterday, deactivated that in the xonfig and it started as normal.
Just my 2 cents.

No it won’t be due to SD.
Not sure what you mean by “openHABian stable” image.
The “stable” branch will install old openHAB2 which probably is not what you want.
Make sure first that you use latest openHABian image.
