Notify OpenHAB of incoming calls on my smartphone

Fantastic! This is good news. Thanks!

I’ll have to think of the best way to export my OH related tasks. And maybe someone somewhere will have reliable tasks to control Audible.

But now I know I don’t have to worry about my variables being posted to the world.

But it’s not working…

Hmmm.

Oh! You need to include the http:// in the OHSERVER variable

http://192.168.0.12

I’ll update the description

I’ll also start to think about a better way to handle these sorts of variables.

Actually I don’t. According to the tasker docs it’s only for https that one has to include it.
I had a malfunctioning dns redirection on the phone. It works.
I like this tasker thing. I thing I might play with it a little bit… Mwahhhh ahh ahh

Tasker was my entre into automation in the first place. I got Tasker back when it first came out and can’t live without it.

I’m intrigued. I’ve found on my phone that I can’t access my local LAN hosts by FQDN, only by host name. What did you look at and what did you change to address your issue? It might give me a clue to my problem.

I use my stock internet provider router still (I plan to move on but I need the finances…)
I is set as a DCHP server but I have set numerous fixed IPs in it
I have a Raspberry Pi running pihole so I need to redirect dns queries to that baby

On my android phone I use the app DNS Changer:

In the setting you can enable IPv6

My problem was that I also changed the dns in the wifi connection settings and that conflicted with the app. When I restored the dns in the wifi setting to something more vanilla (Cloudflare) then it worked again.

Thanks. I’ll look into that app. It didn’t even occur to me to look for an app. I’ve just been looking in settings.

If your phone is rooted you don’t need an app.

I haven’t rooted my phone. The cost benefit just isn’t there for me anymore. There really isn’t anything I want to do anymore that requires it.

I think the Pixel 2 XL is relatively easy to root if I ever have to do so, but if I can avoid it I’d rather not jump back into that cat and mouse game of trying to retain root over an update or dealing with apps that detect root and won’t work like Netflix.
