openHAB 3 has a very convenient Copy UID button for the item UID.

But, when scripting, I find myself needing one for item IDs.
They don’t have one.
Shouldn’t they?
That’s probably worth a feature request issue.
Personally I use the Developer Sidebar (alt-shift-D) and pin the stuff I’m working with so it’s right there. I still can’t copy and paste (that would be nice) but I can at least see what they are. Most of the time I’m working with Groups or building the names from the names of other Items so I rarely actually need to copy an actual Item’s name.
