OH3: Links from removed things to items?

I migrated from OH2.5 to OH3 using the function provided in openhabian.

All items, things, rules etc. stayed in files for the first step.

Then I started to remove the .things files, but the items still receiving values from the things/channels I already removed from the files.

Question: is there a way to unlink this connection somehow? Like a cleanup in the database for deleted things…

There is a console command for cleaning out orphaned links see the docs on the console. There was some discussion about this a month or two ago on the core GitHub about making the cleanup automatic.
