Open Space lighting solution - end result -

Not sure if this is interesting for someone, figured I might share some pictures and if anyone is curious I can go over the process :slight_smile:
Pictures first, BoM afterwards:

BoM:

  • Smlight 03 wled controller (sent by them for testing and to provide feedback);
  • 10 meters of BTF lighting RGB Flexible cob 24 volt “720 LEDs per meter” led strip;
  • 200 watt power supply from AliExpress. Might replace later but it’s only pushing 100 watts so meh;
  • Govee kit 10 meter led strip with channel and pre cut corners;
  • Some additional connectors like rgb 3 pin plugs and a DC plug;

This was yesterday’s adventure with my wife.
Had to cut some of the corners because I have quite a few in the beginning which was annoying but once that was done it was
smooth sailing. Everything is glued with 3m over the wall skirts, later on I’ll 3d print some covers to hide any mis handling by my cutting hand :smiley:

I’m not using the govee strip or controller of course. Those will be used for other endeavors.
WLED is working great with openHAB, though the effects feel limiting. Basic things like “start and stop “ aren’t very easy to set up. But for my intended use of “it’s night time, switch to warmer lights” this is a blast.

Oh and to turn it on/off I had previously an extra wall switch added to a central wall. This switch isn’t connected to anything other than the neutral line. The switches states are reported to openHAB, and I make the rules from there to turn on the wled segments as needed:

That’s it :slight_smile:
Hope this can be of use to someone out there for ideas or to visualize how things may look on their end.
